The Abington-Cheltenham-Jenkintown Area

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. Over the last century, we have fought for election protection, democratic reforms, and equal access to the ballot all while maintaining our commitment to nonpartisanship and fostering an informed electorate.

November 4th, the day after the election and the days ahead

Keep in mind that due to the historic increase in mail-in voting, election results will take longer to be finalized. Millions of mail-in ballots will be counted across the Commonwealth, and counties can begin counting ballots at 7 AM on Election Day.

Don’t worry if the results aren’t in the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 4. With a record number of mail-in and absentee votes this year, it will take a while to count all the votes — and that’s OK! It’s exciting to know that so many people have taken an active role in our democracy. We want every vote counted in these elections--and our democracy is worth waiting for!

The Pennsylvania Department of State prioritizes accuracy and security in every election. The results of some races may not be known immediately after Election Day, but the agency and bipartisan teams of election officials in each county are making sure your vote is accurately counted and verified.
